The National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA) has decided to roll back its earlier decision to bring about 108 non-scheduled drugs meant for the treatment of lifestyle diseases such as heart disease and diabetes under price control. According to an internal guideline issued by the Authority, this step has been taken in line with the directive of the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.

BSE Sensex, fell below the psychological 27,000 mark. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was weak, with more than two losers for every gainer on BSE. All the twelve sectoral indices on BSE were in the red. Realty stocks slumped. Metal and mining stocks also declined. The BSE Mid-Cap index was off 1.91%. The BSE Small-Cap index was off 2.48%.
