JSW Steel reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 115.55 crore in Q2 September 2013 as against net profit of Rs 691.25 crore in Q2 September 2012.

Bank of Maharashtra’s net profit slumped 71.78% to Rs 46.85 crore on 31.32% increase in total income to Rs 3196.56 crore in Q2 September 2013 over Q2 September 2012.

Jindal Stainless reported net loss of Rs 411.97 crore in Q2 September 2013, higher than net loss of Rs 152.26 crore in Q2 September 2012.

Marico consolidated profit after tax rose 25% to Rs 106 crore on 5% increase in revenue to Rs 1118 crore in Q2 September 2013 over Q2 September 2012.

RBI – Monetary Policy

The Reserve Bank of India has hiked the repo rate by 25 basis points in the October monetary policy review, the repo rate is now stands at 7.75 per cent. RBI has also cut the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate by 25 bps to 8.75 per cent. RBI has kept cash reserve ratio (CRR) unchanged at 4.0 per cent.

Key benchmark indices surged as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) after a monetary policy review raised its main lending rate viz. the repo rate by 25 basis points and cut the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate by 25 bps to 8.75 per cent. Market was flat during the morning session but extended gains and hit fresh intraday high in mid-afternoon trade. It hit fresh intraday high in late trade. Gains in Asian and European stocks also underpinned sentiment on the domestic bourses. Banking stocks were in demand. Metal and mining stocks edged higher. The market breadth was positive.
