  • The rupee extended its weakness and made a new life time low of 61.80 in the last week but it managed to gain some ground towards the end of the week due to a sharp fall in the dollar index.
  • India’s HSBC Markit Services PMI fell to 47.9 in July from 51.7 in the previous month. It is the first time since October 2011, the headline index has fallen below the 50 mark, and the lowest since April 2009.
  • The Bank of Japan will extend its easing practices by June 2014 as a 2% inflation mandate continues to be an ambitious target hard to meet.
