- Use your Aadhaar & verify the personal and address information that has been fetched from Digilocker. If you don’t wish to pull information from Digilocker, you can continue to fill out the form manually.
- Enter your bank information, segment preference, choice of nominations and continue to upload other supporting documents, along with your live photo and signature.

- Complete your request by eSigning through Aadhaar based OTP verification.
If your status is KRA non-complaint or your profile data from Digilocker has not been downloaded, the system will prompt you to complete Video In-Person Verification (VIPV).
- On successful verification, your Demat Trading account will be activated!
KYC Registration Authority (KRA) verifies the KYC records as per SEBI directions along with validation of Mobile and Email by sending OTP.
You will receive an account opening confirmation over your registered email with your account details upon successful verification.

SEBI has made it mandatory for brokers to use Aadhaar-based e-KYC (Know Your Customer) authentication for account opening and for existing account holders to link their Aadhaar with Demat accounts. NSDL has also made adequate provisions to link UIDAI with Demat account of investors online. Your Aadhaar Card has a unique 12 digit id that recognizes your identity and address, and thus linking with demat account with Aadhaar protects against identity thefts and cases of money laundering and tax deception. Thus, it is secure, fast and hassle free to open your Demat account with the help of Aadhaar.
You can conveniently link Aadhaar with Demat Account by visiting NSDL Website. On home page you will see ‘Link Aadhaar with Demat Account.’ Click on ‘Get Started’ tab and share customer ID, PAN number, Demat account number, Name and so on. Click ‘Proceed’ after sharing the Verification Code. Your Demat information will be shown on the screen. Check the details and if correct, continue with the connection process. The Aadhaar will be linked to the Demat account after verification and authentication is completed in this step.
To check your Demat account details, you simply need to visit your broker’s or depository participant’s (DP) website or app. Log in using your username and password and click on “My Account.” Select “Demat Account” from the list of accounts. Here you can check all the details related to your Demat account: name, account number, DP ID, and list of the securities held in the account. Here, you will also be able to see your transaction history, including securities bought or sold, date of the transaction, and the balance in the account. You can also download your Demat account statement, which has a summary of your transactions. In case you are unable to get the details on the broker’s app, contact their customer care team for assistance.
A Demat account can be opened as fast as within 24 hours if the KYC is verified and the documents submitted are correct.

SEBI has been directed to upload all client information, obtained through the KYC process, to the KRA agency. This agency serves as the central repository for client data across various brokers. Opening a new account is only possible if the data has been uploaded and successfully verified/registered with the KRA agency. To check the real-time status of KYC data, please follow these steps:

It is mandatory to link Aadhaar card with mobile number to open a Demat account.
